| Bio: | Character Information: Name: Percival (Percy) Ignatius Weasley Age/Birthday: August 22nd, 1976 Current Age: 28 Bloodline: Pureblood Sexuality and Marital Status: Single Nationality/Birthplace: British/England Current Location: London, England Immediate Family: Any Weasley Former House/Years: Gryffindor Character History Percy was born the third oldest child to Molly and Arthur Weasley, often overlooked as a child. Bill was the smart one and Charlie was the athletic one. When Fred and George were born, they were the troublemakers who constantly needed looking after. Molly often assigned that task to Percy, especially once Ron had been born. Upon entering Hogwarts, Percy was both excited and yet disappointed that he'd been sorted into Gryffindor House. He had half-expected to be sent to Ravenclaw, and while he personally thought he could have qualified for Slytherin House, he knew his mum would be furious at the very idea. His family had been Gryffindors for a long time running, after all, always siding with Dumbledore and the Light over everything else. During his fifth year, Percy was awarded the position of Gryffindor Prefect. He also achieved all 12 OWLS, the most that anyone had achieved in a very long time at Hogwarts. He took his grades and his personal life as the most important things in his own world, knowing that he could make a difference in the future and change his current path should he choose to do so. In his seventh year, Percy was awarded the position of Head Boy and received his own personal owl from his parents, named Hermes. He still owns this owl. After graduating, top of his year, from Hogwarts, Percy continued on into the Ministry of Magic as the Junior Undersecretary to Cornelius Fudge. He quickly climbed the ranks, however, and easily received a promotion to the Junior Assistant to the Minister of Magic when Thicknesse reigned as Minister of Magic. The years between 1998 and 2004 were rather productive ones for Percy. He had worked as an “inside” man for Dumbledore since his seventh year at Hogwarts, though he’d had to sacrifice his own family in order to play such an important role. There were several occasions when Percy could have changed his position in the war, or made it known to his entire family what he was doing, yet he chose not to do so until the Battle of Hogwarts. Dumbledore needed a way “in” to the Ministry, and Percy was it. He was a close connection to the Minister and the higher powers of the governmental bodies and he was the one who could possibly influence them positively. When he had returned his Christmas presents during the Christmas of 1997, it still wasn’t safe for Percy to formally acknowledge that his family was right. He had to keep up the careful pretense that he believed wholeheartedly in the Ministry’s ideas; Percy did what was necessary to keep his family safe. It was only at the Battle of Hogwarts that Percy willingly admitted his wrongdoings; however, even then, he still hadn’t told his family the truth about the role he’d played during the war. Part of Percy knew that Molly would never understand, because he knew his mother to be a very protective woman. He loved her for it, but he also knew that he was doing what he had to in order to best protect his family. When Percy finally rejoined his family in that Battle and saw Fred die by his side, it really struck home to Percy that sometimes, no matter what one does, family will always get hurt. It was this act that caused Percy to formally apologize to his family and to reunite with them. Since the Battle of Hogwarts, Percy has been busy working his way through the ranks of the Ministry. Given his roles in the previous war and his devoutness to the cause, Percy has recently earned the title of Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation. He still lives in his flat in London and loves the city life, though he has been returning home more often than not, especially considering the recent kidnappings. Percy seems to have finally found a nice balance between work and a social life, although, if one gets Percy on the topic of work, he’ll gladly talk your ear off about cauldron bottoms and broomstick regulations all day. Personality: If anything, Percy would be described as a perfectionist. He cannot stand the thought of being late to anything nor of doing something half way. He must put his full effort into whatever it is that he chooses to do with his life. This was part of the reason that Percy clashed with his family. When he was younger, his family's financial state prevented Percy from achieving all that he knew that he was capable of achieving. He blamed his parents for this, especially when Percy knew that his father had been offered a higher-paying promotion at the Ministry of Magic once before. Percy almost acts as a Slytherin would, having many faces depending on which crowd of people he was with currently. At the office, Percy's always appearing as a stern young man with a serious, futuristic outlook on life. He keeps his chin high and his gaze full of pride, meeting any challenge with a straight-forward stare. Percy's also very ambitious, though he goes about it as underhandedly as he possibly can. He knows people well enough to know that if people realized how much he tried to manipulate situations, things would not turn out for him in the end. While out of the office, Percy still never lets most of his emotions go. He's almost paranoid about someone spotting him who would recognize who he was and has an almost unnatural need to keep up this pretense wherever he goes. Percy wouldn't dare be caught being relaxed, for he knows that to relax would mean to drop his own guards (both magically and mentally), therefore making himself vulnerable to the multitudes of things that could occur to him. Only when he's alone, safe and secure in his own private flat, would Percy ever dream of remotely relaxing. Even there, however, it's rare that anyone could ever catch this uptight young adult off guard. Affiliation during the First and/or Second War: [Light, Dark, Neutral, Undecided?] Why?: Percy’s political affliation is not an easy one to define. He could best be described as a traditionalist in the second war, mostly because he stiffly sided with the Ministry of Magic. He wasn’t exactly dark, but he wasn’t exactly light…and Percy certainly wasn’t neutral. He kept on the act that he firmly believed in the Ministry and what it was doing and even seemingly sacrificed his own family in order to best serve the Ministry. However, I also enjoy the idea that Percy willingly did all of this in order to act as a sort of spy for Dumbledore in the Ministry itself. I’m flexible on this, especially given the events in the seventh book, but for all that Percy’s a perfectionist, he still does have Gryffindor traits within him. Even with all of his goals that he sought to achieve, I don’t think that Percy would hurt his family without having a greater desire to eventually help them in the end. At the very end of the second war, Percy took the risk and admitted his wrong-doings to his family. It was safe for him to do so at that time: Dumbledore was gone and it was clear who the winner of that particular war was at that time. With the death of his immediate younger brother, Percy finally allowed himself to show his true colors to his family. It became clear, at least to me, that Percy never intended for any of his family to become hurt because of that final battle—or any other part in the war, for that matter.
